Freshwater Project Coordinator
Location: Christchurch / North Canterbury
Hours: Contractor role of approx. 10-15 hours week (on average) over 12 months at $30/hour + reimbursement for mileage
Are you keen to work with communities to restore our waterways? Do you enjoy communicating science to everyone from primary school kids to farmers, and translating that into environmental action?
Working Waters Trust is seeking a Freshwater Project Coordinator for our projects in Christchurch, North Canterbury (and potentially wider Canterbury) over a 12 month period from October 2018.
Does this sound a bit like you?
Good general ecological knowledge (planting, freshwater and/or threatened species knowledge a bonus)
Enjoy hands-on fieldwork and monitoring in, and around, water
A people person, with strength in science communication and ability to relate to people of all ages and all walks of life
Proactive, self-managing, reliable and gets things done
Experience working on community projects, with volunteers and/or school students
Inspired by working for a purpose, for a charitable community organisation
Hold a drivers license, and have your own car
You must be physically able to move safely over rough ground and carry equipment, as well as carry out tasks, such as tree planting, along waterways.
This role may suit a motivated, self-directed university student or someone seeking very flexible work hours. The successful applicant will be entrusted with a high level of flexibility and control over when you work your hours (though some activities are fixed). The role will involve working the occasional weekend, and a small number of evening hours to report to monthly trust meetings.
Applicants must be a NZ citizen or resident and be legally entitled to be self-employed in New Zealand.
